Newseum Goes Online with Blackbaud® NetCommunity™

Located in Washington, D.C., The Newseum — a 250,000 square foot museum of news — offers visitors an experience that blends five centuries of news history with up-to-the-second technology and hands-on exhibits. It features seven levels of galleries, theaters, retail spaces and visitor services. The Newseum offers a unique environment that takes museum-goers behind the scenes to experience how and why news is made. The mission of the Newseum is to raise public awareness of the power of the First Amendment and the critical role a free press plays in a free society.


  • The Newseum needed be able to accept online donations in time for its opening.
  • Additionally, the organization needed a system that would limit the amount of administrative time required to import and export data from its website into its primary database.

  • The Newseum has been able to give members a more convenient way to join and renew. The Newseum has more than 5,000 members.
  • The organization acquired 98 member households at the $1,000 and $10,000 levels since opening in April 2008.
