Founded in 1808 by Pope Pius VII, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York is a large archdiocese covering New York, Bronx, and Richmond counties in New York City. With 400 parishes and 2.5 million Catholics relying on its education programs and social, pastoral, and education ministries, the Archdiocese now includes more than 1,800 priests, 350 deacons,1,500 religious brothers, and 3,150 nuns.
